Excerpt: DENNIS - We’ve all got to take our medicine when we need it – but not in our drinking water.
That was the concern of the Dennis Water Quality Advisory Committee when it invited Kathleen Attfield, a staff scientist with Silent Spring Institute, to speak before an array of local town officials and interested parties last week.
The event was hosted by the Dennis Police Department and drew a capacity crowd.
“We’ve basically not been testing for excreted pharmaceuticals. We’re testing for nitrogen, phosphorus and also contaminants but not these things,” observed Virginia Esau, chairwoman of the advisory committee.
